Congratulations! You've said YES to your amazing partner, and you've suddenly been transported into a new world of wedding admin! So where do you begin? What's the typical timeline once you've settled on a date?
Once you've found your dream venue, and finally settled on a wedding date it's time to get the ball rolling! From experience, I booked my wedding venue 2 years in advance and it was the perfect amount of time... I was adamant I didn't want to get overly stressed, and *thankfully* it gave me the opportunity to really think about the wedding day in detail.
Wedding Stationery
I noticed there were so many websites offering different advice and checklists, and it really depends where you live, and what is traditional. Wedding season is generally between May-September (that is when dates are the most expensive for venues!) so to avoid major expense and making sure you secure your dream supplier, why not see if a date before May or after September works for you as a couple.
As general advice...
If you're really eager to make sure everybody is there on your special day, then save the dates are a really good option ((that doesn't need to cost the earth!). When I sent out my save the dates I made sure these were sent a year in advance to ensure it was in everyone's calendars! As we were in lockdown during the time I was super nervous sending these out... what if we had to postpone? All that money wasted?! But actually... things managed to turn around and everyone's diaries were starting to be booked up again! Holidays were being booked, and thankfully everyone I sent the save the date to already had my date saved!
I would say to send out your Save the Dates at least a YEAR in advance to your wedding date.
If you're thinking of having your wedding day a bit sooner than 2 years in advance then I would opt straight for the day wedding invitations, and send these out at least 6-9 months in advance of your date. Especially during the busy peak times you want to make sure no one has booked a family holiday, or has work commitments... so the earlier the better!
